An access log is a detailed list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a certain Internet site. Every file which was requested for whatever reason will be listed, so if you have a single page with three embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for each of the 6 files that were accessed when the site visitor opened the webpage. A log usually offers the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s OS, Internet browser and IP address. In some cases you may also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your website. The info that an access log file features is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to prepare reports on the functionality of a site, in addition to the web statistics your web hosting server may have created.
Access Log Manager in Shared Hosting
Our custom-built Hepsia Control Panel includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As you sign in to your shared hosting account and navigate to this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains which you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to each domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you'll see a download link along with the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your computer and look at it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect immediately, so if you no longer require one, you could stop it with simply a click from the same section of the Control Panel. You will still be able to access the already created content by simply clicking the Download link.

When you host your sites in a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will have the option to enable or deactivate the generation of access logs with no more than a few mouse clicks within your Hepsia hosting CP. You shall find this feature within the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access after you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is one click on the On button which you can see there. The feature can be triggered individually for any Internet site regardless if it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you shall find a detailed list of all the hosts within that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you could then see it manually or use some software on your computer. The log generation may be stopped by simply switching the On option to Off inside the Logs section of your CP.
