SPF, which is an abbreviation for Sender Policy Framework, is an authentication system that is aimed at stopping the so-called e-mail counterfeiting. Essentially, this means sending some message from one e-mail address and making it appear to be sent from another with the idea to scam in some way the person getting it. When the SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a record which contains all mail servers authorized to send messages with addresses in the domain is generated. The record is stored on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic worldwide, so they all can recognize if an e-mail message comes from a legitimate server or not. The verification is conducted at the first server where the email goes through and in the first case the e-mail message is forwarded, whereas in the second one it's removed and it never reaches the supposed recipient. Employing SPF records for your domains will prevent any unwanted people from making use of your emails for malicious purposes.
SPF Protection in Shared Hosting
SPF protection can be enabled for every domain name hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a couple of clicks. The feature can be found in the Emails section of our cutting-edge Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to use it is to select one of your domain names from a drop-down list and then enter the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be permitted to send messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you can also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the emails for it, not some third-party supplier. This feature will provide you with the best level of safety, but it's not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain name are taken care of elsewhere. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam and scam purposes.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes as standard with all of our semi-dedicated packages, offers you an incredibly intuitive interface to activate the SPF security service for every domain that you host in your new account. A couple of clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that then you'll only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send out messages from your e-mails. When the email messages are managed on our end and not by some other supplier, you can raise the protection level even more and enable an option for all the outgoing e-mails to be sent only if your domains use our MX records. This option gives you increased control and it will eliminate any possibility of anybody counterfeiting your emails with the intention of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable when only your web site is hosted on our cutting-edge cloud website hosting platform, while your email addresses are handled by some other provider. If you aren't sure what options to choose, our technical support staff will assist you 24/7.
