If you wish to transfer a domain name from one domain name registrar to another, you’ll have to pass through several safety procedures. One of them is obtaining a unique EPP authentication code from the current domain registrar – provided that you are the domain registrant, since the code is emailed to the domain owner’s mailbox and nobody else can see it. You will have to give this code to the new domain name registrar, otherwise they won’t be able to initiate the domain transfer process. The EPP authentication codes are case-sensitive and may include digits or special symbols such as commas or dots, which can be easily misentered, so make sure you copy/paste the correct code. As an extra security measure, the transfer authorization code for a domain may be changed on a regular basis. Certain registrars call this code an Auth key, a domain secret or a domain password as well.
