The dot SE country-code domain name extension was launched in 1986 and assigned to Sweden. During the first years after its introduction, the registration process was very restrictive, so a very low number of domains were grabbed. Individuals could obtain only one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was mandatory, i.e. only Swedish persons, firms and organizations were able to purchase a dot SE domain.
